Dr.
John Gibney has been in plastic
surgery practice in Scottsdale since 1977
and is certified by the American Board of
Plastic Surgery; the only board recognized
by the American Board of Medical Specialties
to certify plastic surgeons.
Dr.
Gibney has been chief of Plastic Surgery at
the Scottsdale Memorial Hospital-Osborn. He received
his undergraduate degree from Saint Peter's
College in New Jersey and his medical degree
from New
Jersey College of Medicine. He served
his general surgery residency at the University
of Utah Medical Center from 1971 to 1975.
He performed his plastic surgery residency
at Maricopa County General Hospital, Arizona
Children's Hospital, and Good Samaritan Hospital,
all in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Gibney later
served as an Associate Clinical Professor
for the Phoenix Plastic Surgery Residency
Program and as Chief of Surgery for Scottsdale
Memorial Hospital-Osborn.
Dr. Gibney
has delivered many presentations about Plastic
Surgery at scientific meetings both nationally
and internationally. He has been granted a
patent for a device designed to act as a ventricular
assist or replacement. He is an adjuvant Professor
in biomedical engineering at Arizona State
University. Dr. Gibney has published articles
in several medical journals and has co-authored
medical textbooks. He was recognized in 1989
by Good Housekeeping magazine as one
of the best breast reconstruction surgeons
in the nation.
He
was one of the first plastic surgeons to perform
what we call the "Scottsdale Lift",
a modified facelift created to meet the needs
of a younger generation of facelift candidates.
In addition to his work in his Scottsdale
medical practice, Dr. Gibney enjoys traveling
to other countries such as Brazil
and Equador to share his talents and providing
surgical services to those with limited facilities
within their reach. He has made six surgical
missions to the Amazon region where he has
repaired cleft lip and palates on over 250
patients.
